URGENT: January 2016
The school is out of water. This affects life in Haiti in many ways, but most importantly, without water they cannot cook the rice and beans we provide for the school’s lunch program. For many children, this will be the only meal they eat that day. We can not let them miss it. We need to raise at least $200 to help send a water tanker to the school to fill the cistern. This is a complicated process on the rugged mountain roads, but it can be done in desperate situations. And this, friends… is a desperate situation.
Please pray for the needed funding to come through, for the water to be delivered safely and for rain to come.
Please help if you are able by donating here. God bless you!

Because clean water is a big deal.
“I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward.” Mark 9:41
Although I (Carolyn) had made multiple trips to HOW School in Haiti, until this past year I had basically remained ignorant to their situation concerning water. Of course I understood there was an issue. But the reason I chose not to learn at first is because specifically, our organization had been asked to help with food. My focus remains concentrated on areas in which there has been an invitation for assistance. Heart of Worship Ministries, Inc. exists to support and to be in alignment with the vision of those we are serving at HOW School, and so we are mindful and respectful of our involvement, not wishing to impose.
From the first visit to the school it was obvious to me that what they are dealing with is a bigger problem than I can handle. Haiti has no infrastructure to support plumbing for the rural area in which HOW school is situated. Although several homes may have sinks, baths, toilets, there is no water service. This is the sad reality for those who find themselves born into these unfortunate circumstances—and change is expensive.
Before my visit in the summer of 2013, someone asked the question which at that time resonated in my heart: “Where do they get their water?” Because shamefully the truth is that I did not know the answer. I decided to learn. The problem is indeed larger than any one of us, but all things are possible with God. And a big mouth. After months of telling about the dire need for clean water and talking with numerous people concerning our options, God has made several things happen.
The Thomas Project and San Ramon Valley UMC are providing a water purifier for Heart of Worship School!
This is the first in a series of developments regarding our new partnership in serving the students and school community in Viard. Heart of Worship Ministries, Inc. is responsible for installing TWO 200-gallon water tanks: one tank for rain catchment and one tank for the purification process.
Water is used every day for cooking, cleaning, bathing, and drinking. The sooner we are able to establish this new purification system the better. No longer will gathering water take half the day, walking to the nearest source and back. In addition, the school will be able to generate a small amount of income by hosting “Purification Days” for neighbors. People from all around may bring their own water to be purified for a minimal charge or donation to the school.
Here is YOUR opportunity to help. With a one-time gift of just $25 we only need 20 donors to fund this project for the children and those around HOW School. And because we love to give something in exchange for your kindness, follow up pictures and a message from HOW will be sent to those generous friends giving $25 or more.
The next time you turn on a faucet and water magically comes out, think about how your life would be different if that wasn’t the case. Wouldn’t that brighten your day to know YOU have helped to provide CLEAN WATER for a multitude of our neighbors? This is something that really matters and has huge implications. Please prayerfully consider becoming a partner with us on this project!!
Just press the big orange “donate” button at the top right hand side of the page or send a check to the address on our donate page. In either case, mark your donation to be used for the water project!
With love in Christ and all for His glory,
