October 2013 begins the 4th academic year for Heart of Worship School, and enrollment is increasing! During one Saturday in July, a Sewing Bee was held in beautiful Thompson Station, TN to prepare uniforms for the new students.
There were 16 volunteers representing 3 generations with various skill levels and experience to prepare and sew the 30 needed preK-Kinder uniforms. Three ladies had arrived not knowing any of the others, and only one in the room had actually traveled to the school in Haiti and knew the children who would benefit from these efforts.
Throughout the afternoon, sewing machines buzzed with activity while quiet voices shared stories and progress was made. Friendships were formed and strengthened during this time as we worked on a common goal to serve the students in Haiti. Some of the uniforms were finished over the following 2 weeks and then were delivered to HOW School during the Summer Camp trip.
We want to share a heart-felt “thank-you” to everyone who was a part of this project!
In addition, through the generosity of one of our volunteers (check her out at Sewing Mama), we’ll have a pattern designed just for us to work next year when it’s time to make uniforms again for the the newest students!
